Our History
After serving as a U.S. Army officer during World War II, J. Wilbert "Doc" Jordan, LLB, CLU founded the financial services practice that has evolved into Passmore Planning Professionals. Prior to his war service and while attending law school at the University of Alabama, Doc often sold life insurance policies to his fellow classmates as a way to support himself. At the war's conclusion, Doc was one of Mobile area's first CLU certificants; he was also one of the original founders of the Estate Planning Council of Mobile. Doc was active in the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), Civitan Club and St. Francis Street United Methodist Church outside of serving his clientele.
In 1974, Doc's son-in-law, W. Scott Passmore, joined the practice in order to better serve Doc's clientele. The practice continued to grow under their combined efforts. After Doc's passing in 1986, Scott has continued to serve the financial needs of area residents. Scott has attained both the CLU certificate and the ChFC certificate. Scott continued Mr. Jordan's legacy in MDRT* and the Estate Planning Council.
Scott's son, Andrew Passmore became the third generation of the practice in 2008 after working for several years for a financial planning firm based in Birmingham, Alabama. Prior to joining the practice, Andrew earned a Masters of Science degree in Human Environmental Sciences with a Concentration in Family Financial Planning and the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation. Through Scott and Andrew's combined efforts, the practice is strongly positioned to help individuals and families to pursue and accomplish their financial goals.
*The Million Dollar Round Table membership is independently produced by The Premier Association of Financial Professionals®. Members must meet a certain level of premium, commission or income during the year and must also adhere to strict ethical standards. Scott Passmore applied for membership and a fee was paid.
